Location: Commanda Lake, near Restoule, Ontario
Memories are made at lakes like this. Families come to play at places like this cottage. Family photos can be taken on the spacious front deck with the striking panorama of Commanda Lake in the background. Coffee or cocktails can be served on the deck, while enjoying the commanding view. Situated on the crest of a hill, this three-bedroom cottage provides the perfect position for watching the sun sparkle upon the lake vista. The largest of two decks is 50 feet long and spans the full front of the cottage; a smaller deck is located at the rear, adjacent to the parking area. The front deck has wider sections at each end to allow ample space for relaxing or dining al fresco, and it can be easily accessed via sliding glass doors from the master bedroom or the kitchen/dining area.
From the deck, a path leads down to the waterfront, which has been left in a relatively natural state. Entry to the lake is shallow and deepens to about 4-6 feet at the end of the 40-foot dock. Both the dock and a floating wooden raft have ladders, making it easy for swimmers to get in of out of the water. As well, the cottage’s assortment of watercraft – kayaks, paddleboards and a peddle boat – will allow water enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy exploring scenic Commanda Lake.
Commandascape’s large living room windows also afford breathtaking views of the northwest section of the lake, opposite Restoule. Centrally located, the comfortably furnished living room blends with the dining area and flows into the kitchen at one end and, at the other end, the bathroom and three bedrooms. This space is perfect for family games or just relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the surroundings.
The dining table has bench-style seating for eight and, in the kitchen, a large L-shaped island has four stools. In addition to seating, the island has plenty of room for food preparation, as a supplement to the counters that extend on two sides of the fully equipped kitchen. Leading from the kitchen to the deck access, a smaller room can serve as a breakfast nook for those who prefer to have morning coffee inside, instead of out on the deck.
The cottage’s three bedrooms can accommodate a total of 10 people and, since this is a single-floor abode, all rooms are easily accessible. The master bedroom has a sliding glass door to the deck and a queen-sized bed. The secondary bedroom also has a queen bed but, the third one, there are two sets of bunk beds, each with double beds on the bottom and singles on the top. The bunk room is perfect for a posse of cousins on a family vacation together! The bathroom has a large jet tub for soaking and relaxing, as well as a step-in shower unit.
Both the bunk room and the living room are set up for electronic entertainment. The living area has a 43” smart TV and, in the children’s room, the 32” TV is ready for games, DVDs or a streaming device. As well, there are puzzles and other games available.
In addition to swimming or using the water toys, those inclined to do so can fish right from the dock. Or, if land-based activities are preferred, there are excellent hiking and biking opportunities at Restoule Provincial Park, which is about 15 minutes away. The village of Restoule sports a seasonal farmers’ market and a honey farm, Gerry’s General Store and eateries such as the Crow’s Nest or Buck’s Lodge and Grill.
Whether interested in taking advantage of local amenities and activities, exploring the lake, or just enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the marvelous view, Commandascape is a great place for a getaway!
