Location: Grandview Lake, Near Baysville, Ontario
Located on lovely Grandview Lake between the popular Muskoka villages of Baysville and Dorset, Grande Vista is a terrific location for families who enjoy the kind of relaxed and peaceful vacation experience only found on the region’s smaller lakes. Cute-as-a-button and recently renovated throughout, this lovely cottage has been in the same family for over 40 years and is now available for other guests to enjoy. Comprising 1200 square feet of living space situated on a long, level ½ acre lot that stretches down to a lovely shallow shoreline, Grande Vista boasts four bedrooms and a capacity to sleep 8 guests.
Set back from the easy-to-access waterfront (the cottage is connected to the water by a pleasant stone pathway), this pleasantly decorated traditional cottage offers ample room to entertain and have fun. Its well-appointed kitchen with brightly stained pine cabinetry and durable wood-patterned vinyl flooring is the perfect place to prepare those memorable cottage meals. In addition to quality appliances (including a dishwasher), it also boasts a kettle and teapot (a must for tea drinkers!), coffeemaker, griddle for making perfect pancakes, as well as a new kitchen island with seating for four. Additional table seating up to 8 guests is located in the adjoining Muskoka Room, and a large storage cupboard is located off the kitchen for all your cottage goodies.
Just steps away from the kitchen, the living room is a cozy place to relax after meals and enjoy a little satellite TV or a movie from the extensive DVD library. The living room offers comfortable seating for up to 5 guests.
Grande Vista’s four bedrooms offer two queen and three double beds. The large master bedroom offers a queen bed, along with a TV and DVD player; while the second features a double bed plus a large games cupboard. Upstairs accommodations include a large bedroom with one queen and one double bed, as well as a bedroom with a double bed and a double fold-out futon. The cottage also offers a playpen and highchair for the youngest visitors.
There are two bathrooms - the first between the main floor bedrooms is a good-sized, 3-piece with a tub and shower combination. The second, is a 2-piece, located between the two bedrooms on the upper level.
The large Muskoka room located on the lake-side of the cottage offers splendid views over Grandview Lake and includes a pine dining table that easily seats eight, along with a comfortable lounge area for a further three guests. Stretching the width of the cottage, this 24 ft long room is the perfect place to hang out and play some of the multitude of board games provided, or to simply kick back and enjoy the tranquil views.
A new lakeside deck that seats 6-8 people, added in 2022 is a great spot for al fresco meals.
There’s no end of fun things to do outside, too. As its name suggests, Grande Vista’s 40ft of waterfront consist of a large sandy beach that’s perfect for kids of all ages. The water approach itself is sandy bottomed, making it easy to wade out to the deeper water beyond the 20 ft long dock for serious swimmers to enjoy. Located on a large, sweeping and peaceful bay, it’s also the perfect spot to enjoy the cottage’s water toys. These includes two adult and one children's kayak, one adult and one children's paddleboard, a rowboat and a paddleboat.
Sun worshippers won’t be disappointed, either. In addition to the many hours of sun available on the sandy shoreline, the long protruding dock enjoys sunshine all day long. It’s also the perfect place to catch a sunset, or to do a little stargazing using the telescope available in the cottage. Another fun place come nightfall is around the fire pit with its adult and kid-sized Muskoka chairs. Other outdoor activities include a volleyball net (it also lowers to make a great badminton net), as well as a tetherball.
