Paddle Boat(1), Tin Boat(1)Description:
Location: Otter Lake, near Parry Sound/Seguin, Ontario
Otter Water is a modest, clean and comfortable cottage, with many recent upgrades situated on a sparkling fresh water lake for swimming and boating. If comfort and simplicity are your cup of tea, this is a terrific spot for a summer getaway.
Enter this characteristically warm and friendly cottage by way of the newly renovated, well-outfitted kitchen and dining area, that opens to the relaxed atmosphere of the living room that offers a great view of the water. The 3 bedrooms and bathroom are conveniently located off the living area. New floor to ceiling windows on the lakeside invite the early morning sun, kickstarting your day with a smile.
Patio doors open onto a large deck that extends across the front of the cottage with lots of soft, comfortable chairs and a sofa, making it easy for the entire group to gather for a light meal or afternoon tea. The deck also captures a wonderful view of the lake and gets lots of sun throughout the day.
On a rainy day, cool evening, or later in the season, the living area is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy peaceful view, read a novel, or play a board game.
The cottage sits on a rocky outcrop amid a splash of maples and evergreens. A set of 25 stone steps descend to the waterfront. A deck joined to a long floating dock at the water’s edge provides lots of seating with an overhead canopy for shade. The water stays relatively calm in this private little bay, which is somewhat secluded but accessible to the larger open water of Otter Lake. At the end of the dock the water reaches a depth of 10ft and can be entered by ladder. A firepit is located by the waterfront for memorable evenings in the great outdoors.
Otter Lake is a glacial lake and was originally named 'Nigge-Cu-Bing' (Lake of Many Otters) by the original First Nations peoples. The water level is controlled by a dam at the outflow to the Boyne River, part of the Great Lakes basin. A 2-person paddle boat is provided with the cottage for water excursions. A marina is located only 5 minutes away. An exploration of the quiet bay portion of the lake is likely to lead to the sighting of plentiful birds and wildlife.
At Tower Hill Park in nearby Parry Sound you can enjoy spectacular views of the harbour and Georgian Bay. A great spot for photos.
