Kayak(2), Rowboat(1), Pedal Boat(1)Description:
Location: Reay Lake, near Gravenhurst, Ontario
This classic cottage offers peace and tranquility, nestled within old growth trees on a half acre lot overlooking the quiet, motorless Reay Lake. Sunsets are spectacular from the western facing raised dock that also offers a panoramic view of the lake.
The open concept kitchen, living and corner dining area provide a view of the lake through windows and a patio door that opens to the new, lake-facing deck. On the deck is a barbeque with extra tanks and chaise seating areas.
The small, well-stocked kitchen complete with microwave and coffee maker is adjacent to the dining table with seating for six. The cozy living room boasts a wood burning fireplace, comfortable seating for seven, a TV, DVD and VCR as well as games and books to enjoy.
This rustic cottage features three bedrooms on the main floor and one four-piece bath. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a queen, and the third bedroom has twin bunk beds and lots of children’s books and games to keep kids entertained.
In the semi-finished lower level, kids both big and small can play ping pong or just hang out.
Lakeside, the lot is rugged and rocky leading to the water and the terrain is a medium grade. There is a small sandy area at the shoreline. Further out, there is a solid sandy area – roughly five feet from shore where the water is only 2 feet deep. Beside the cottage is a firepit awaiting evening campfires and sing-alongs. Two kayaks, a rowboat and a paddle boat, ensure that all cottagers have something to do. From the cottage it’s a short 15-minute drive to either Gravenhurst or Bracebridge for shopping, boat tours, Santa’s village, and several, varied restaurants, pubs and other amenities. Algonquin Park is less than an hour’s drive and well worth considering for a day trip, especially in the autumn when the trees are in full colour.
This simple cottage is a wonderful place for a family to kick back, unplug and appreciate the peaceful serenity of this quiet lake.
