For an unforgettable experience, rent the whole 7 1/2 acre park-like
Waldemar Island, complete with luxury cottage, boathouse, dock and
miles of shoreline! If you want peace and serenity, you will get it
on South Bay of Lake Nipissing. It's a warm, sunny spot, blessed
with pines for shade and sand beach to stretch out on.
Where to start? Rent a boat from Hunter's Bay Marina and make your
way to what will be your private island for four or five weeks. You
will want to explore Waldemar Island, a seven acre, well-groomed,
wooded island, with 12 miles of shoreline. There are trails to
explore the entire island. You will see many interesting plant
species, large old-growth trees, a long moss-covered seven-foot rock
wall stretching for 800 metres, several sand beaches -- all
secluded, all your own to enjoy! You can even try your hand at some
gardening if you like, as there is a vegetable garden on the other
side of the island.
The three-bedroom, 2000 square foot luxury cottage has a large
fireplace in the living room along with large-screen television
/VCR, comfy designer couches and antique armchairs. The kitchen is
fully equipped, including a pantry, freezer, and washer and dryer.
There's a generous wrap-around porch with small-pane windows --
perfect for lake-view dining, before-dinner drinks and snacks on a
trolley cart, afternoon naps, or even sleeping on warm summer
nights. Each of the three bedrooms includes a double bed with
dresser; and there is also a double and single bed on the veranda
for sleeping with the romantic cottage sounds of crickets,
bullfrogs, night-owls under the starry night sky.
Outside, the deck in front of the cottage will let you experience
some of the most amazing sunsets. There is ample docking space for
your rented boat, and plenty of swimming off the dock.
Waldemar Island is located in the South Bay of Lake Nipissing. This
lake is the fifth largest lake in Ontario (excluding the Great
Lakes) and covers 831 square kilometres. The prime game fish sought
by anglers are walleye and pickerel. They are so plentiful in this
lake that catching your limit is considered a bad day's fishing.
If you are planning a trip to the mainland for a day's worth of
activities, Nipissing's South Shore has plenty to offer for the
whole family. Activities include visiting local towns, museums and
other points of interest well as hiking trails, picking berries,
bird watching and so much more. Whatever your pleasure, it is all
here - just three hours north of Toronto.
