Description:
This modern cottage, set on farm acreage, has access to 325 ft. of shoreline on Peninsula Lake with a five-minute walk down the farm trail. Located between Huntsville and Algonquin Park, this vacation spot would suit family get-togethers as well as provide a retreat setting for artists, writers and yoga enthusiasts.
The cottage is 1,500 sq. ft. and is surrounded by pretty farmland views. It is next door to an old heritage farmhouse that previously had horse stables and paddocks. The front door opens into the large tiled foyer and up a few steps to the bright spacious kitchen. It is well-equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee-maker and everything required for meal prep, cooking and serving. The dining table seats 6-8 for family and friends to gather around and enjoy meals and conversation. At hand on the deck off the kitchen is a propane BBQ for outdoor cooking. The deck also is a relaxing spot to settle into a Muskoka chair and listen to the birdsongs. Come evening, a log or two thrown on the fire pit in the backyard entices all to pull up a chair to enjoy.
There is comfortable seating in the cottage living room and a ceiling fan to circulate air and keep things cool. A faux fireplace and brick wall add to the ambiance. The TV has satellite, a VCR, DVD player and a selection of movies to choose from.
The cottage has four bedrooms and sleeps eight. Two bedrooms are on the main floor and both are roomy with good size closets. One has a queen bed and the other a double. There are individual thermostats in each of these bedrooms. The four-piece bath with tub and shower is located on this main level.
The third bedroom is located on the entry level and has a queen bed. Additional living space is provided on the lower level. With couch and loveseat, it offers a great family area to hang out and for kids to play. Board games, cards and a pool table will keep all entertained. The fourth bedroom is on this level and has a three-quarter and a single bed.
A five-minute walk away across the farm property (or a short drive around the corner) are the dock and boathouse. This waterfront is not public access, however it is shared with the manor located on the same property as the cottage. At the waterfront the boathouse rooftop deck gets sun all day and is a perfect spot for lounging while enjoying the lake view. The canoe is available for a relaxing paddle and exploration of this part of the lake. The lake bottom at the dock is sandy, but quite soft. Peninsula Lake is excellent for boating and fishing with access by boat to Fairy Lake, Mary Lake, Lake Vernon and to Huntsville’s shops and restaurants.
