It's exciting to unpack and unwind in this two-plus-bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, well equipped cottage along the shoreline of a beautiful lake. The loft/bunkie will hold up to five additional guests; however, the washroom is located down the outside stairs, in the main cottage.
Two bedrooms are located on the main floor. The first is a spacious primary bedroom that has a queen-sized bed, 36” television, several large windows, ceiling fan, and two-piece ensuite bathroom. The second main floor bedroom has a queen-sized bed, celling fan, lake views, and large sliding glass doors.
The open concept kitchen is fully equipped with a stainless-steel refrigerator, stainless steel dishwasher, microwave, and glass top stove. The vaulted ceiling and numerous windows in the Muskoka Room make it an enjoyable spot to lounge around and enjoy the cottage vibe. The fifty-five inch smart television and electric fireplace are found here, along with a couch and loveseat. The pine post and beam style add a cozy ambiance to this sizeable room. Enjoy high speed, unlimited, reliable internet services. However, note that there is no cell phone service available at this cottage.

There is a large main floor four-piece modern bathroom which includes a full-sized tub, shower, toilet, and sink.
Tucked beneath the gentle slope of the roof, there is an outdoor-only access loft/bunkie. Up a set of sturdy stairs with a railing, this area offers a queen size bed, and a twin over double bunk bed that sleeps an additional five people. A bright and inviting space with an electric fireplace, and an elevated view of the lake. Rocking chairs, a 30-inch television, and unique geometric shaped windows allow maximum natural light. The loft at the cottage is an exhilarating hideaway, buzzing with energy and perfect for epic hangouts. Whether chilling out with friends, diving into games, or watching the lake view from above, the loft is a unique place to enjoy after a day on the water.
Outdoor living is equally inviting, with a spacious wrap around deck is ideal for entertaining. A hot tub, BBQ, finished wooden slab counter, and high back chairs, all offer endless views of the lake, whether at coffee or cold drink time. A fire pit area is situated close to the lake for evening gatherings with plenty of Muskoka chairs.
This cottage is located at the bottom of a fairly steep, gravel driveway. At the bottom of the hill, and close to the cottage, a flat cleared area is available for parking. If arriving in the winter, please make use of the large, level parking area located at the top of the hill.
There is direct access to the lake from a private dock. There is shallow entry into the lake by the natural and rocky shoreline. A public boat ramp is located within ½ kilometer from the cottage and can be seen from the dock. The dock also has cleats to tie up the boats. The dock extends out over the clear, calm lake — ideal for swimming, fishing, or launching a canoe at sunrise. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and lakeside adventure.
The Voyageur Cycling Route passes through the South River area as part of its larger network through Northeastern Ontario. While the main route has sections of both paved and gravel roads, South River is also a hub for other local, shorter cycling routes like the Almaguin Spin Road Ride and the Old Nipissing Ghost Road Gravel Ride.
Local trails like the Discovery Routes network and Missing Link Adventure Tours offer similar activities including shoe shoeing, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, fat biking (yes, in winter!), tobogganing, and dogsledding opportunities.
Explore Algonquin Provincial Park. This world-famous wilderness park is located just 20 kilometers east of South River. You can access the park via the Lake Kawawaymog (Round Lake) entrance for a day of paddling or explore the Highway 60 corridor for hiking and camping.
Mikisew Provincial Park is on the shores of Eagle Lake, about 12 kilometers west of town. It offers sandy beaches, a boat launch, walking trails, and disc golf. The park is very dog-friendly, featuring a dedicated off-leash dog beach.
Perhaps paddle the South River Water Trail. It is a 14.5-kilometer water trail that runs from the Hydro Pond near Powassan to the Hog's Trough rapids past the Highway 522 bridge. It's a great option for a day trip, though it does require two short portages around dams.
Hike the Forgotten Trails: This volunteer-maintained network of trails offers scenic and historical hiking experiences. Options include the Laurier Tower Trail, which offers a rewarding view of the Almaguin Highlands after a steep climb, and the Loxton Beaver Trail, which winds past Loxton and Beaver Lakes. You can find detailed trail info on the Discovery Routes website.
Enjoy a family day at Tom Thomson Park: This community park in South River has frisbee golf, a waterfront view, and is a great spot for a picnic. An accessible compacted gravel trail leads to the park from the end of Ottawa Avenue.
