Shielded from the noise of the outside world, the Ironwood Cottage is a sanctuary of design that offers the best of both worlds found in Muskoka – proximity to several towns and immersion in the serenity of endless natural beauty. Set on over two acres and surrounded by over two-hundred-and-fifty acres of untouched crown land in northern Muskoka, the private cottage is surrounded by trees on three sides and open water on the fourth. There is no noise here but nature.
Amidst a natural backdrop is a modern cottage which carries warmth and soul through its curated design. Clean lines, soft lighting, hardwood oak flooring and careful stonework elevate a comfortable and cozy aesthetic, accented by refined décor of sculptures, paintings, and pottery.
Bedrooms prioritize comfort in their design and layout, and can accommodate up to ten guests. The primary bedroom, a full top-floor retreat spanning seven-hundred square feet, is complete with its own treetop terrace overlooking the water and a spa-like ensuite featuring a stone sink and a walk-in rainfall shower. Two additional bedrooms on the main floor — one king with a view of the lake through sliding glass doors, and one queen with a dresser — share access to a full bathroom that has twin sinks and a bathtub with a rainfall shower head. The downstairs bunk room showcases custom millwork, integrated storage and lighting, and four double beds, complemented by a dedicated bathroom and immediate access to the home’s entertainment spaces and lakeside grounds.
The main level boasts a full chef’s kitchen, complete with a ten-foot island with four cushioned stools and integrated, professional-grade appliances including a double-door refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, stove, and espresso machine. A dining table nearby with eight seats offers a space to socialize while viewing nature through large windows. From morning coffee to evening entertainment, the main living room features high ceilings, large windows for natural light, and layered in-floor and ambient lighting that combine for rich atmosphere.
Downstairs, a complete bar with two cushioned barstools, games room with shuffleboard and ping pong, movie lounge with a stereo system, and a fitness room all flow seamlessly to the lakefront bedroom and bunkie.
Ironwood Cottage was not built just to admire the outdoors, but to live in it. Outside, multiple large decks equipped with fire pits, lounge areas, and exterior lighting, all offering panoramic views of the cottage’s surroundings. Two outdoor dining tables with seating for ten and a propane barbeque are perfect for sunset gatherings.
At the water’s edge, a private dock features four lounge chairs and a large sectional around a lakeside propane fire pit, inviting a late-night fire or an afternoon dip in the lake. A shed on the shore houses a full fleet of kayaks, paddleboards, a canoe, and a nearby public boat launch encourage exploration of the calm water. It is highly recommended that life jackets be worn in or near the lake.
A fire circle with seating for ten and cleared trails throughout the property’s forests invite time spent in the woods, where a nearby natural spring and a local cliff-top lookout with views of the region are waiting to be discovered.
Only fifteen minutes from Burk’s Falls and thirty-five minutes from Huntsville, this retreat is close to the shops and restaurants of the area, while providing an escape from the noise of roads and the boat traffic of larger lakes.
Designed for families and mature groups who prioritize quality time in nature and adventures on the water, Ironwood Cottage boasts elegance and warmth, and in its craft, invites an unmatched experience of Muskoka.
